NICOLAS SARKOZY ON THE ATTACK: FRENCH PM SAYS 'UK HAS NO INDUSTRY' AHEAD OF EU SUMMIT

[i-Story Image]

President Sarkozy has said the UK has no industry

Monday January 30,2012

By Daily Express reporter

A SNEERING Nicolas Sarkozy last night attacked Britain for being a country with “no industry”.

The French president, hoping to be re-elected this spring, used the inflammatory words as he defended a VAT rise during a prime-time national TV broadcast.

Mr Sarkozy had just announced 1.6 per cent would be added to the tax, which is meant to boost France’s failing economy.

He argued that a similar move “helped to boost German competitiveness” and had not led to an increase in prices.

But when a journalist pointed out that Britain had experienced such a rise after it lifted its VAT contributions, Mr Sarkozy replied: “The United Kingdom has no industry any more.”

NICOLAS SARKOZY ON THE ATTACK: FRENCH PM SAYS 'UK HAS NO INDUSTRY' AHEAD OF EU SUMMIT

30.01.12, 11:45pm

The three prefered bidders for MARS (Military Afloat Reach Sustainability), are Hyundai, DSME, (both South Korean) and Fincantieri (Italy). Italy has very high labour rates (scale 1 to 20, Britain is 9-10, Italy is 18) and South Korea is not far behind our labour rates. The productivity though is different, but we had or still have a chance to get on top of this, and the MARS ships would be good for new jobs investment, and doing something healthy (especially nowerdays workwise enviroment, state of mind and more inspiring as Cameron would like, so he says) but we looked on service retail, banking etc as more important. I don't think this re-balancing is happening yet. BAE are supposed to be involved with Hyundai or DSME, but to what extent, and will they learn new methods in shipbuilding? Cammell Laird were linked to Fincantieri a few years ago to be involved, but will the Italians just push us out of our own tax funded projects. Sarkozy is right to a certain degree, as in it is not big enough at the moment. Lets prove him wrong soon.

The only other thing I would say is while the government goes ahead with favouring yet more foreign firms in which work like this should be produced over here, we also have people like Dr Timothy Stone who, from what I can read seem to be underminig or downing the British potential in producing nuclear components. Some of the reasons are can be vested interests as well as being weak or out maneuvered, and this has been the problem with Britain. All the excuses are used but the tuth is far worse. The Costa Classica hull stretch and Cammell Laird being one example in which all the excuses were used, and the QM2 contract being another. Have not got the skills, facilities, ability, not the quality, or cannot do it in time, were all lies, the truth was France and the UK did some deal (in which we always come out behind as a nation, but certain individuals do fine who haved undermined us), and the UK government, as usual was not prepared to initially finance this project that could of kicked started the UK's involvement in this work again, instead of being involved in wars at the start of the century.

SAD

We don't have to put up with this - let's get out of the EU now before it is too late.

Send a wake call to the Government today - please object to wind turbines, an EU imposed project which is currently blowing £billions of your money away, by googling "petition 22958" and following the link.

BUT WE HAVE SOMETHING YOU DON'T, SARKOZY

30.01.12, 4:47pm

Maybe we don't have much industry, Sarkozy, but we in the UK have still got an AAA credit rating, and you and France don't have one any more ! Who failed to keep it for France - why, YOU did, Sarkozy !
We also have international support and credibility for dealing with our deficit ... and you don't have THAT either.
We've had to financially support your inept agricultural sector for donkey's years as well, haven't we?
In short, you're a bit of a loser really, aren't you ? And you have the **** temerity to criticise us winners in the UK ? Get outta here !
(But it is very nice to see you showing your true colours after playing the snake in the grass pretending to be the UK's friend and EU partner. Friends like you we can well do without thank you. The sooner we close our end of the channel tunnel the better.)
