MSF South Africa was established in November 2006. MSF is an entity rooted in an African society known for uncompromising advocacy and effective social mobilisation could harness this energy - along with medical expertise, and international communications capacity - to both add value at the operational level of emergency medical and humanitarian assistance and bring a new, fresh voice to the governance/associative level of MSF. Since then the office has contributed substantially to MSF activities.
MSF South Africa seeks to appoint a Volunteer – Human Resources (HR) Assistant, based in Johannesburg.
S/he will support the Field HR Unit cope with increased workload related to daily administration, logistics and office support.
This is a three-month volunteer position of two working days per week.
S/he will report to the Head of Field Human Resources.
Responsibilities:
- Administration support;
- Telephone screening;
- Assist with visas applications and documentation;
- Plan and organise information evenings;
- Update field staff files and maps;
- Support in preparation of exhibition materials;
- Participe in office meetings and events.
- Self-motivated;
- Ability to take initiative;
- Accurate and meticulous;
- Tolerant and patient;
- Systematic and organised;
- Sensitive to diversity and cultural issues;
- Attention to detail;
- Ability to work in a team;
- Computer literacy.
Remuneration: The position is unpaid but a small stipend for transport will be offered.
This role is an opportunity to explore the day to day operation of an NGO and to become acquainted with the means and methods of NGO communications. Also there will be ample opportunity to learn about Médecins Sans Frontières and you are welcome to attend and contribute to weekly office meetings and operational updates.
