Call for Proposals: Illustration of REPSSI’s Teacher Certificate in Psychosocial Support
The Regional Psychosocial Support Initiative (REPSSI) is a nonprofit that works to lessen the devastating social and emotional impact of HIV/AIDS, poverty and conflict among children and youth.
REPSSI seeks the service of independent artists/consultants and/or companies to illustrate the modules and supplementary material for the Teacher Certificate in Psychosocial Support between February and October 2012.
The supplier is expected to be creative, innovative, efficient, reliable and able to produce clear, culturally appropriate line drawings in black and white that are relevant to the content of the modules and supplementary manuals. Supplier will be required to work closely with the layout artist and to take direction from project manager and the writers of each module.
Work Flow
The work flow for the layout process is as outlined below:
- Service provider agrees to work under the guidance of REPSSI Project Manager and Layout Artist;
- Service provider agrees to illustrate based on the briefs provided by REPSSI Project Manager. These briefs will be guided by the individual writers for each module during the writing process;
- Service provider agrees to illustrate the agreed upon illustrations and sends to REPSSI Project Manager and Layout Artist for review;
- REPSSI Project Manager either approves the illustration as camera-ready or returns to service provider for corrections;
- The service provider corrects and returns to REPSSI Project Manager. Further corrections may be necessary and the service provider must be prepared to do these to REPSSI’s satisfaction (until the REPSSI Project Manager signs off the illustrations as “camera ready”), after which the service provider shall invoice REPSSI for the work done.
The service provider is expected to assign all rights and title to REPSSI for all materials, information, inventions or other work product generated by them in the course and scope of performing services for REPSSI and will transfer or hand these over to REPSSI original hard-copy drawings and high-resolution scanned electronic copies of all illustrations produced.
Responding suppliers must be in compliance with all applicable laws regarding business permits and licenses that may be required to carry out the work in accordance with this bid. They should not be party to any agreement that would restrict their ability to enter into a working agreement with REPSSI, nor should they require consent of another person or entity to perform REPSSI work. Responding suppliers must be able to work fluently in English.
Quotations Request
Suppliers are requested to supply a quote that includes:
1. The service provider illustrating the following for the six Teacher Certificate Modules listed below:
- 15 black and white line illustrations per module;
- 10 black and white line illustrations that can be utilised as repeated / repeatable motifs in all 6 module and supplementary manuals;
- An illustration to represent each learning activity, journal entry, question to consider, assignments, a vocabulary word, the unit summary;
- Two illustrations, one male and one female, that will be repeated throughout the six modules- to further explain the text;
- Illustrate the cover that will be represented on all modules.
- All of the above illustration shall be produced as per briefs from Project Manager. These briefs will be guided by the individual writers of each module.
- Introductory module- that will introduce children’s rights, ecological theory, and building cycle of support;
- Realising your Potential as a Teacher- personal and professional self-reflection;
- Realising your Learner’s Potential;
- Realising the Potential of your Classroom;
- Realising the Potential of your School as an Inclusive as a Centre of Learning, Care and Support, and;
- Realising the Potential of your Community.
- The Pre-reader-5 black and white line illustrations;
- The Champion for Children Handbook-7 black and white line illustrations.
3. The cost per additional illustration requested by REPSSI;
4. The cost to use illustrations that the illustrator has archived in their professional portfolio;
5. Any free hours the supplier will provide for initial corrections.
Selection process
In appointing the supplier REPSSI will take into consideration:
- Samples of previous work (suppliers may send samples to REPSSI in hardcopy or electronic format to support their quotation);
- Experience illustrating similar content e.g. educational material, psychosocial-well-being materials or community development material;
- References from previous clients;
- Cost;
