As of Saturday, all but two Canucks players are off the NHL COVID Protocol list. The Canucks’ AHL affiliate is in Utica, New York, so unlike most of the rest of the NHL teams in Canada, they can’t recall players at will. They recalled Kole Lind on April 2, and Jack Rathbone on Friday.
It's also worth noting the Rangers, Devils, Penguins, Sabres and Flyers are all playing for the second time in consecutive days, whereas Vancouver is hitting the ice for the first time since Mar. 24. Here are my picks and pans at each position for today's contests. All statistics from Natural Stat Trick and Hockey Reference.
Nylander took part in the morning skate with his teammates on Apr. 7 before their 3-2 win against the Montreal Canadiens. Nylander later showed on the NHL's COVID-19 list and the team put out a statement that the player was pulled from the lineup due to "exposure to a possible positive case with a close contact outside the team". "We got back from the road and I met somebody who tested positive for COVID the next day," Nylander said.
