One of these days, the Buffalo Sabres are going to have to say enough is enough when it comes to playing the Pittsburgh Penguins. Especially in KeyBank Center. The Sabres had their playoff drought officially reach 10 seasons, tied for the longest in NHL history and the third longest active streak in the four major professional sports.
Steven Fogarty leads the team averaging 0.9. The Penguins are 28-13-3 in division play. Pittsburgh has scored 147 goals and is fourth in the NHL averaging 3.3 goals per game.
Buffalo Sabres forward Kyle Okposo underwent surgery to repair a broken bone in his cheek and will miss the remainder of the season, the team announced Saturday. Okposo, 33, sustained the injury when he was hit by a dump-in attempt during the first period of the Sabres' 5-2 victory over the Washington Capitals on Thursday. The Sabres' alternate captain recorded 13 points (two goals, 11 assists) in 35 games this season, with 10 (two goals, eight assists) coming in the last 13 contests.
