I find it somewhat comical when scientists and others who publicly express skepticism about a looming man-made global warming catastrophe are accused of being in the pocket of Big Oil. Here we are referring to oil and gas… master resource trade commodities that the entire world urgently depends upon. Can you imagine they are losing sleep over market competition from non-fossil “renewable alternatives” such as ethanol, windmills and sunbeams? Do you really think rampaging greenhouse gas regulatory attacks on coal-fired power are anything but a blessing?

cartoon-obama-killing-oil-jobs[i-cartoon-obama-killing-oil-jobs]President Barack Obama recently told Rolling Stone that he plans to make global warming a key part of his re-election campaign, but since American families pay more at the gas pump and more for energy in their homes because of this administration’s policies, we have our doubts.

To be sure, President Obama has many major green “accomplishments” to tout. By imposing backdoor global warming regulations through the EPA, he is fulfilling his 2008 campaign promise that energy prices would “necessarily skyrocket.” By vetoing the Keystone pipeline, he gave the far left what one of his supporters called the “biggest global warming victory in years.”

[i-solar panel array]The economic cost of the expansion of renewable energy could become prohibitively expensive. Subsidies in the EU for solar and wind power should be phased out as quickly as possible. That is what the European Commission says in an internal draft strategy paper that EU Energy Commissioner, Günther Oettinger, will present in Brussels early next month. --Hendrik Kafsack, Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, 19 May 2012

It seems as if a day doesn't go by where new computer "simulations" don't add another item to the ever-growing list of what causes global warming. Turns out pollution in thunder-bangers fits right into computer models developed to show they increase global warming not taken into account in those other computer models. From TG Daily [emphasis added]:

Pollution is leading thunderstorm clouds to capture heat, increasing global warming in a way that climate models have failed to take into account.

A prominent skeptic of man-made global warming says recent comments from the defense secretary about climate change are "complete nonsense."

Speaking recently to the Environmental Defense Fund, Defense Secretary Leon Panetta said climate change has a dramatic impact on national security through "rising sea levels, severe droughts and more frequent and devastating natural disasters."

obama-gas-prices-new-wells[i-obama-gas-prices-new-wells]A new report shows we have spent $70 billion on climate change since 2008 while our strapped military is ordered to become energy-efficient. Imagine weapons that don't harm the environment.

Sen. James Inhofe, R-Okla., ranking member of the Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works, and a senior member of the Senate Armed Services Committee, took to the Senate floor Thursday to decry the green agenda being imposed on the military by the Obama administration at the same time the defense budget is being sacrificed on the altar of runaway deficit spending.

Emboldened by its success in bullying some corporate donors to quit a group pushing voter identification laws opposed by Democrats, the left is now ganging up on Fortune 500 firms that contribute to Chicago’s Heartland Institute in a bid to kill it for being a global warming skeptic.

A coalition of groups that include Greenpeace and the Sierra Club has taken credit for winning the defection of Eli Lilly, BB&T Bank, PepsiCo, General Motors, State Farm and USAA from Heartland.

cartoon nature vs gore[i-cartoon nature vs gore]The Church of Global Warming — or is it climate change or maybe climate disruption — is currently enduring a crisis of belief somewhat akin to the time when, in 1517, Martin Luther engaged in his theological carpentry at the All Saint’s Church in Wittenberg. Former believers have become skeptics. NASA astronauts and scientists now doubt the whole business and the remaining true believers accuse them of joining the Flat Earth Society or becoming the equivalent of Holocaust deniers.

cartoon[i-cartoon]Extremist green campaigning group WWF - endorsed by no less a body than the European Space Agency - has stated that economic growth should be abandoned, that citizens of the world's wealthy nations should prepare for poverty and that all the human race's energy should be produced as renewable electricity within 38 years from now. Most astonishingly of all, the green hardliners demand that the enormous numbers of wind farms, tidal barriers and solar power plants required under their plans should somehow be built while at the same time severely rationing supplies of concrete, steel, copper and glass. --Lewis Page, The Register, 18 May 2012

Good news for any surviving members of Al Gore's posse.

He's still into global warming; it's very lucrative, you know. But now the chunky failed politician has a new girlfriend. Life is short. The divorce from Tipper can wait.

cat[i-cat]Starting later this year, California's cap-and-trade system to fight global warming will generate billions of dollars in revenue, as companies buy and sell permits to produce greenhouse gases.

How should the money be used?

With the first permit auction scheduled for November, that question still hasn't been answered by Sacramento - not fully, at least. Now a series of studies, released Wednesday by the Next 10 public policy group, delves into the question's legal and economic implications, trying to assess which options would most benefit Californians.

Micha Tomkiewicz, a professor at Brooklyn College determined not to "let the deniers win again," equated opponents of global warming policies with supporters wrote on Earth Day 2012.  "But what about climate change deniers? Can we really compare the two, the Holocaust and climate change?"

"We are now painfully aware that the Holocaust deniers were dead wrong and that there was a planned systematic genocide," Tomkiewicz, author of Climate Change: The End of Now, wrote on Earth Day 2012.  "But what about climate change deniers? Can we really compare the two, the Holocaust and climate change?"
